Primitive Wilderness Living/Survival Skills Weekend Aug.14th&15th

contact: email randygol@earthlink.net

Some of the HANDS-ON workshops:

  • Medicine Wheel Teachings

  • Exploring the Outdoors with Indian Secrets

  • Shelter (Secrets of staying warm/cool)

  • Water (Procurement and Purification)

  • Fire Building

  • Wild Edible and Medicinal Plants

  • Tools and Cordage

  • Survival Kits

The Medicine Wheel is both an understanding and representation of the universe's symbolic teachers. We use the sacred Medicine Wheel's profound symbolism to convey universal truths in our wilderness survival and nature awareness workshops. Our belief is that learning doesn't come from memorization of skills, words and symbols. Knowledge and wisdom is a living, growing thing that comes from touching and experiencing each of the Medicine Wheel's seven directions.

We will develop survival skills within all aspects of primitive living. Awareness skills encompass the center of our circle and are involved in all that we teach in survival and primitive living. According to traditional understanding human beings are made of four selves: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Our workshops are experiential intensives offering increased awareness in all aspects of the self and the environment we occupy.

Instructor: R. L. Hueston (Hue)

Hueston, an active 20 year US Army Officer, has taught wilderness skills from Alaska to Arizona and Korea to Germany as his primary life interest and passion. He is currently working on a book that describes his vision for learning/teaching primitive living and wilderness skills using a ancient Native American metaphor.

The circle of life, the Great Medicine Wheel, has no beginning and no end. Every part of Creation exists as a part of this circle, and each has a purpose.

The Owl is the symbol for our school. Owl symbolism signifies the night messenger that brings lessons from the unseen side of life. The Owl represents silent and swift movement, seeing behind masks, keen sight, messenger of secrets and omens, shape-shifting, link between the dark (unseen world) and the world of light, comfort with shadow self, and freedom. Being touched by the night messenger brings those attributes to power in your life.
